Do your part for the Federal Marriage Amendment

I imagine I'm a lot like you in that I never thought I would see the day this country fights for the sanctity of marriage, between one man and one woman.

The Family Marriage Amendment (FMA) would amend the U.S. Constitution to say: "Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution or the constitution of any State, nor state or federal law, shall be construed to require that marital status or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups."

The FMA protects marriage from redefinition by state legislatures and the courts. It would also prevent the courts - where almost every assault on marriage has taken place - from giving away the legal benefits of marriage to same-sex couples or requiring their state legislatures to do so.

To increase support for the FMA and its chances of becoming law, citizens should ask their Members of congress to co-sponsor the amendment. For Members to merely say they will vote for the FMA is not enough. Co-sponsoring signs their name to the amendment and signifies absolute support.

1) Dear Representative ______________,

I urge you to co-sponsor the Federal Marriage Amendment. A constitutional amendment is needed to protect marriage from the judicial attacks taking place throughout the country. For this issue, at this time in history, other legislation is not enough.

FMA will remove the courts from ruling on marriage issues that are constitutionally reserved for the states. Unit this is done, the institution of marriage will remain unprotected.

Please join dozens of your colleagues and co-sponsor FMA immediately.

I write you today to urge you to co-sponsor the Federal Marriage Amendment.

Marriage, in my view, is the most important issue before Congress at this time, and we must protect it from redefinition by the courts. Marriage is and always has been the union of a man and a woman. Our entire society is based on that simple truth. Therefore, we must use the strongest means possible to protect it.

The Federal Marriage Amendment is the protection marriage needs. Please add your name to the list of co-sponsors today!
