Are we in the last day?

As we observe the changes taking place here in America and abroad, one asks, “What is going on? Are we in the last day?” We hear of wars and threats of wars, numerous natural disasters, global economic crises paralleling the Great Depression, senseless violence, lack of a moral compass and churches—including entire denominations—promoting sin.

All this reminds us we are perhaps approaching the end of the final days of human history. We’ve been in the last days for 2000 years and it’s getting closer to our Lord’s return.

This means our country and world will grow increasingly ungodly and pagan.

“Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.” —Matthew 24:12-13

True love is in short supply. Too often a pseudo-love is expressed for the purpose of one’s own advantage.

“These men are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.” —Jude 16

Scandal after sandal reveals the self-serving attitude of public servants and corporate heads.

With the corruption in and out of the church it becomes a real challenge to maintain one’s faith through perseverance and obedience. However, it is not up to us. Jesus says we are to seek His kingdom above all else and everything we need in life will be provided. He said ask, seek and knock and you will find. Do not neglect corporate worship and be an encouragement to others. Hide God’s living and active word in your heart to safeguard it from sin. These are some of the things one would naturally want to do out of love for God our savior.

What does God do?

“He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.” —I Corinthians 1:8

Jesus himself will keep you strong in the faith to the end our your life. He is the one we must seek in prayer and worship on a daily basis. In so doing our loving Father will protect and increase our faith enabling us to face the unknown future. The only thing we know about the future is that God is there and has it all under control.

The future may look bleak, frightening and uncertain. However, we need not fear; the Lord is here and interceding on our behalf.

Remain focused, taking one day at a time and knowing heaven waits for every believer; and in the end our Lord will welcome us home.

PRAISE THE LORD!
