Pilot Knob Lutheran Lunatic, Liar, or Lord 1/31/2024
The well-known author and atheist C.S. Lewis set out to disprove Christianity, like so many before him. Unlike many others he was willing to do his homework with diligence and determination only to discover that there truly is a God – the God of the bible and gave his life to Jesus Christ. As a result, Lewis became a rabid defender of the Christian faith.
He concluded that what makes or breaks Christianity and the bible is the claim that Jesus is the Messiah; truly the Son of God, who is 100% human and 100%God.
Many people view Jesus Christ as a good man, a moral teacher, a prophet and so on. In other words, he is a good role model. Ask yourself; if a man you did not know came to your house and announced that he is the Son of God, or the Messiah, would you invite him into your home, call for you kids to come and listen and learn from this stranger the ways of life?! I would hope not. Yet for many this Jesus is a great moral teacher who also said out right that he is God.
I think we would concur with Lewis; Jesus is either a lunatic, liar, or Lord. If a liar, those who hated him would surely expose his lies; can’t cover up his claims for very long. If a lunatic or a crazy man, he and his follower would not be willing to die for their cause. More importantly this ‘lunatic’ rose from the grave never to die again. To this day millions are willing to die for this belief.
Perhaps he is Lord. Hundreds of prophecies recorded hundreds and thousands of years ago about a coming Messiah who would suffer, die, and rise all came true. Who is he for you? If he is Lord, the Son of God, what will you do with him and his teachings? Pr. Bob Snitzer

A New Year’s Perspective
A new year and new beginnings. We all hope for a better year every January. It’s a 50/50 chance that a new year will be an improvement or live up to our expectations.
