The Answer

Pilot Knob Lutheran Church The Answer 3/5/2025

As we begin the Lenten season I will be focusing on the result of Christmas: God became a man and lived among us, but why? Why would God, a spirit come to his creation as a created being, that is in human flesh and live as people did during the harsh Roman Empire?

There is only one answer; to be hung on a cross as a vile criminal damned by God. His purpose was to give up everything so that you and I may receive everything. Hebrews 10:14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. One sacrificial offering brought an end to all animal blood sacrifices and to satisfy every need of the human race. This satisfaction extends beyond time and into eternity.

Here is a sacrifice that encompasses every need that mankind (you) will ever have. In addition it extends into eternity. Paul tells us in Philippians 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. All our needs are not supplied by ourselves, no. They are made possible through or as a result of Christ’s sacrifice for our sin. What does all our needs include? The body, soul, mind, emotions, along with material and financial needs. These are areas in life we all wrestle with from time to time and areas Jesus’ sacrifice covers.

We all wrestle with our own unique difficulties and God has provided one all-sufficient solution for every problem. The way we find that answer is to walk along the dusty path that leads to Calvary – the cross of Jesus. Isaiah tells us the answer in 53:6. More on this next week.

Sweet Surrender

Perhaps a common misconception about Christianity is that walking with God in
righteousness will greatly reduce trials and trouble. A misnomer is if you suffer it’s because of sin in your life.

Learning to Wait

The communique is going to follow a new line of thought. It will be a follow-up on Sunday’s message with application and more information.

WAIT!

What is your preference; waiting or instant gratification? Instant or a least fast is preferred by far. We have: ‘Insta-Lube’ for fast oil changes, microwave ovens, instant potatoes and coffee, fast food restaurants, minute rice, insta gram and the list goes on.

Armor

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
