Who We Are
The history of Pilot Knob Lutheran Church has its roots in the immigration of Scandinavian families to north central Iowa in the mid-nineteenth century. Our congregation formed as Ellington Lutheran Church in 1875 at the home of Gunder Kivle. In 1901, our first church building was constructed. It was dedicated in 1902.
With that building damaged by fire in July 2000, our congregation constructed a new building across the road. The building was dedicated in 2003.
Today Pilot Knob Lutheran Church maintains a mission to worship God and proclaim His Word so that people experience salvation in Jesus, mature in their faith, and equip all to serve in the church and in the world.
