Today we come together to receive the body and blood of our Savior Jesus Christ. As the apostle Paul taught his church, whoever eats the bread and drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. (1 Corinthians 11:17-34)

I was reading through Jeremiah and was struck by what was written about Judah. The nation continued to move away from God and worship everything but the living God and ignored the prophets who warned of God’s impending judgment. God warned Judah and Jerusalem that they would be destroyed as a result to their idolatry.
