Fear Not

Pilot Knob Lutheran         Fear Not                  11/6/2024

It is the day after the election and I’m writing this five days before election day. I don’t know who will occupy the White House for the next four years or the direction our country and world will take. What I do know is that Almighty God is not up for a vote and His seat will never become vacant nor will He be replaced.  God created the world and all life; we did not create God or vote Him into office.

God is also very much aware of what is going on in our world, nation, and our individual lives, our daily needs, and long-term needs. He knows the future results of either person being elected. When we are told who genuinely won, there will still be America, a job to go to, children to raise in the fear of the Lord and God who welcomes our time in His presents for worship. Nothing happens that will catch God off guard.

God’s love remains and so does the Holy Spirit who will continue to be our counselor, our peace and help. Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? What or whom do you trust for today and tomorrow? God will never turn His back on you or forget you or have a lap of memory. If He knows when a sparrow dies and the number of hairs on your head, He knows your daily challenges and will provide what you and I need to see us through. It may not be easy, but He will be with us. Joshua 1:9 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Do we fear if the ‘wrong’ person is in office? No. Can it cause concern? Yes! Either way it should drive us closer to our never changing God who is our shield and refuge. As followers of Jesus Christ we are on the right track and will overcome sin and evil in the end through our LORD.

Psalm 27:13-14  I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and

Cursed to Blessing

Jesus was punished that we may be forgiven.
Jesus was wounded that we may be healed.
Jesus was made sin that we may be righteous.
Jesus died that we might be made alive.
Jesus was made poor that we may be rich. (prosper)
Jesus was shamed that we might receive glory.

Good Friday 2025

What is good about Good Friday? Why isn’t it called Bad Friday? Because out of the appallingly bad came what was inexpressibly good. And the good trumps the bad, because though the bad was temporary, the good is eternal.
