Learning to Wait

Message: Learning to Wait

Like change, waiting is not easy and is something we must learn. Waiting has a lot to do with knowing and trusting that God has your back. As a follower of Jesus Christ God never takes His eyes off of you, never forgets, and never tempts you to do wrong.

Not everything can take place immediately or in the short time frame we place on our request, want or need. Moses for example, was anointed by God from birth to be used by Him to accomplish great things for His people. The first forty years of his life were spent growing up the son of an Egyptian pharaoh and groomed to follow in his footsteps.

However his life took a sharp turn when he realized his people, the Hebrews were being abused. Taking matters into his own hands he killed and Egyptian task master who was beating a fellow Hebrew in an attempt to free his people. That resulted in a disaster. He was to be sought out and killed, so he fled Egypt and ended up in a barren wilderness tending sheep – for the next forty years. So much for being used by God.

Eighty years went by, well past retirement age with nothing to show for. All his education, abilities, strength, and faith produced nothing. It was in that humble state that God said; Okay Moses, now we can get started, at eighty years old!?

For forty years Moses waited for God’s perfect timing for Egypt and for the Moses’ proper attitude and total dependence on God. What did Moses learn through waiting? Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth. Numbers 12:3

God’s power is useful, safe, and affective in the hands of the humble. How do you achieve humility? Spend forty years in the desert. Someone once asked; ‘Why Moses had to spend forty years in the desert? Because God couldn’t do it in thirty-nine.

Are you waiting for God to answer a prayer or to be used by God in some way? Don’t whine, throw a fit or give up, recognize that God is working on your character as much as he is working to put all the other pieces in place to achieve the best outcome.

Don’t give up, you may be on the brink of a breakthrough.

Learning to Wait

WAIT!

What is your preference; waiting or instant gratification? Instant or a least fast is preferred by far. We have: ‘Insta-Lube’ for fast oil changes, microwave ovens, instant potatoes and coffee, fast food restaurants, minute rice, insta gram and the list goes on.

Armor

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:11-12

Any Similarities?

The book of Daniel begins with the announcement that “King Nebuchadnezzar came to Jerusalem to besiege it.” What a way to begin – war, death, and destruction. But why? Jerusalem was the place God’s chosen people met and worshiped Him.

Not Snuff Out

Do you ever feel discouraged and not worthy of God’s love, attention and healing? Do you think at times you’ve sinned to often or your sin is too grevious and God really doesn’t want you?
