Truth Matters

Pilot Knob Lutheran Church                   Truth Matters                                    9/17/2025

News outlets and social media are not moving on from the assassination of the founder and CEO of Turning Point US (TPUSA), and thankfully so. To drop it only a week after means he and his work would be forgotten and die.

However, the opposite is happening. At the time of this writing there have been over 32K requests to begin new TPUSA chapters across the country. His assassination has lit a fire storm of interest in continuing his legacy. Could it be a true turning point in bringing a revival and or an awakening to our young people and nation? May we pray for it to happen.

Why was Charlie Kirk hated by people on the political and religious left? Some will point to him living with a male transitioning to a female; true mental illness. But was that the real reason for violent hate? I don’t believe so. I suggest the reason we are hearing such of hate, violence, and celebration of his death has everything to do with two things: truth and Christianity. We must remember Satan is a liar and the father of lies; Jesus is the Truth, and the Light while Satan is darkness. They have nothing in common. Darkness cannot extinguish the Light, but truth will expose lies and shine brightly in the darkness. Charlie Kirk was eliminated because he spoke truth and shared passionately about his faith in Jesus Christ. It comes down to evil unable to stand in the presence of God’s love through Jesus Christ. Evil tried to silence Jesus and in turn set his followers on fire for sharing the faith globally and now we see a similar event.

Genesis 50:20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. God can use any tragedy for advancing His cause. As followers of Jesus Christ we too must stand up for truth especially in the face of evil.  Share your faith in Jesus Christ with confidence.

Freedom

Galatians 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. We all want to be free to make our own decisions, think what we want and speak what is on our minds, just so it doesn’t incite violence.

Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Think about it. “Too many Christians see the study of their playbook, the Bible, as an inconvenient obligation to endure and wonder why their Christian lives are so ineffective and boring.” -Dr. Karl Payne

Fear

There is a lot of fear in our world and our lives these days. The fear of the unknown, illness, natural disasters, violence, being make to look like a fool, dark spirits, failure, and the list goes on. Jesus repeatedly said to His people, ‘Do not fear,” “fear not,” and “do not be afraid.” How could he say that to those living in a violent world in both the Old Testament and the New?

Testing

James 1:12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
