WAIT!

February 11, 2026

What is your preference; waiting or instant gratification? Instant or a least fast is preferred by far. We have: ‘Insta-Lube’ for fast oil changes, microwave ovens, instant potatoes and coffee, fast food restaurants, minute rice, insta gram and the list goes on. We have been conditioned for quick answers and results. When we must wait for something it’s not unusual to get up tight and anxious: “Why is it taking so long,” “can’t they hurry up or make it a rush order?” Anyone who was in the service is familiar with the slogan: “Hurry up and wait.”

I find it hard to wait at times especially when it comes to waiting on God; as thought He should follow my time line or schedule. If you find yourself waiting on God you are in good (possibly anxious) company.

Consider Joseph who was told his brothers would one day bow down to him. He was nearly killed by his brothers, sold into Egypt, his father thought he was dead, spent seven years in prison for a crime he never committed, all this time and drama waiting for his dream to come true.

Abraham was told when he was 75 years old he would have a special son. He had to wait another twenty-five years for fulfillment. Why such a long wait? God had to bring him to a place of total obedience to Himself.

God doesn’t make us wait for the fun of it or to show us who is boss. We wait because God is working behind the scenes to prepare people and places before the promise or answer can take place. God isn’t slow in answering, He is waiting until the time is right.

Waiting produces dependence on Him who loves you. Isaiah 64:4 “Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.”

Isaiah 55:10-11 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve thepurpose for which I sent it.

Perhaps a common misconception about Christianity is that walking with God in
righteousness will greatly reduce trials and trouble. A misnomer is if you suffer it’s because of sin in your life.

Learning to Wait

The communique is going to follow a new line of thought. It will be a follow-up on Sunday’s message with application and more information.

Armor

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
