Pilot Knob Lutheran Church Communique

Speech, how and when did that come to be? That’s not hard to figure out. “In the beginning God said…”. God is the first one to speak and with such authority the heavens and earth came into existence.
God speaks and no one can silence Him. Jesus spoke and not only were His words received with authority unlike anyone else, but His word often recreated by healing the blind, deaf, lame and demon possessed. God continues to speak today through His written word, the bible you hold in your hands. It is God’s holy and inerrant word from beginning to end that is alive and active able to create faith in the heart of the faithless and free those bound by sin and darkness. How lovely are the feet of him who brings good news (gospel). Followers of Jesus Christ are to proclaim His word in faith that it will not return to Him void, but accomplish what He sends it to do through you and me.
Is it any wonder in Acts 4 John and Peter are arrested for teaching about the name and work of Jesus? No! Nor should it be a surprise that the enemy is trying to remove free speech in America by declaring it to be hate speech if someone disagrees with it. As Charlie Kirk said: “What we have to get back to is being able to have a reasonable disagreement where violence is not an option.”
Life and death are in the tongue. Our words don’t have the authority of God to create or recreate, but they can build up or destroy. Not just words spoken by another person but what we choose to say to ourselves and choose to believe. We as Christians are to speak words of life and truth, if not, darkness will leave a trail of death and destruction.
Be it resolved in your heart to stand with John and Peter: Acts 4:19-20 Peter and John replied (to the religious authorities), “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to Him? You be the judges! As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”

By the Way:
Last Sunday we saw the movie, “The Great Awakening” at Cinema West. I generally don’t go to movies, but this one, produced by Sight and Sound is absolutely worth seeing. Very inspirational, moving and faith encouraging. It will be there until this Thursday the 16th. if you can go do so with the entire family. You won’t be disappointed.

Isaiah 55:10-11 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
