WWIII?

Pilot Knob Lutheran               WWIII?                    11/1/2023

To say we are living in turbulent and uncertain times is an understatement. The eyes of the world are fixated on Israel’s war for survival against the satanic attack of Hamas and all its allies. We wonder if this will precipitate World War III, what will the United States, or should I say, the Divided States, do and so on. Also, on the minds of some people is whether this war leads to the “final war of Armageddon” spoken of in Revelation and elsewhere. The current world events can cause worry, panic, negative thinking, and despair. However, we must remind ourselves that Jesus told his disciples: You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.“Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. Matthew 21:6-13. There have been and are wars, persecution, famine, pestilence (Luke 21:11) and much more growing with intensity as history moves closer to our Lord’s return. How close are we; 2000 years closer. A more important question is, are you preparing spiritually and emotionally for persecution at any level? Are you convinced and convicted that Jesus loves you, is with you no matter what may come and that he will protect you from evil? Are you convinced God knows exactly what is happening; the key players, that He controls what power rises, how long, and the exact timing? There are no coincidences with the rising and falling of world leaders, the timing of their aggression against a nation right down to the recent selection of the speaker of the House of Representatives and its timing? None of this is arbitrary. The best practice is to read your bible daily to remind yourself that there is a God who is watching over the Apple of His eye which would include all Christians as we are grafted into the true Vine. If we are on the brink of national and/or global collapse, worry changes nothing, but spiritual preparation and intercessory prayer does. Speaking to Christians waiting for their Lord’s return, Jude writes: But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.Be merciful to those who doubt;save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. History, Philosophy, and Christian Apologetics:
Specializing in Resurrection-of-Jesus Research
Billions profess to believe in the historical existence, death, and supernatural resurrection of Jesus. This man from Nazareth, a working-class Jew, made an exclusive claim to personal deity. The size of his popular religion and this one audacious claim refuse to be ignored, yet neither one amounts to evidence.

Gary Habermas has dedicated his professional life to the examination of the relevant historical, philosophical, and theological issues surrounding the death and resurrection of Jesus. His extensive list of publications and debates provides a thorough account of the current state of the issue. Christian believers as well as unbelievers may find within the contents of this site a strong argument for the philosophical possibility of miracles and the historicity of the resurrection of Jesus, as well as the theological and practical implications of this event. This site has a lot of free information regarding the one topic that if it is not true Christianity falls flat. Check it out at: https://garyhabermas.com/

Knowledge and Good Sense

As we read through the book of Proverbs, we encounter words such as knowledge and good sense. How do they differ from wisdom?

Ninth Sunday after Pentecost

“It is time that we all began to live for eternity- not time, and for Christ – not ourselves. We must realize that our public effectiveness is largely based on our private relationship with God.”

God is Involved

I realize the news media is flooding the air waves and our minds with the assassination attempt. It is a big deal and I don’t want to ignore it as though it doesn’t matter. I think it also takes time to process how close the bullet came to Donals Trump’s head and how close he came to being murdered and how that would have changed the political and cultural landscape. Turning at the last milli-second saved his life.  Even Trump said; “it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening.”

Eighth Sunday after Pentecost

The Constitution specifically sets aside Sunday from any governmental work; Christianity is the only major
religion in the world with a Sunday Sabbath.

What is Wisdom

Continuing with the topic of wisdom as portrayed in the book of Proverbs, we need to understand that true wisdom is God’s gift to us. Wisdom resides with God and He freely shares it as we seek Him and follow Him. It does not come from man’s intellect. As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 3:18-19a, 20b Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in the sight of God… “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile. What wisdom we have comes from above.
