Shalom

          Pilot Knob Lutheran        Shalom              9/4/2024

We finish the Aaronic benediction with these words: “the Lord lift up His countenance and give you peace (Shalom). Numbers 6:26

What is this peace the bible speaks of? Peace from conflict, peace of mind? Shalom is the fullness of life: prosperity, happiness, salvation, restoration, repair – the sum total of the Gospel.

Shalom is possible only because of what Jesus has done. On Good Friday there was not blessing for Jesus, only a curse. While hanging on a cross His Father did not smile upon Him, rather He turned away abandoning Him to carry the curse of all our evil, shame and guilt. On Good Friday His Father did not give Him peace, but judgment. He experienced the blackest darkness of hell which each of us deserve, so that we don’t need to experience it. We can begin to see the tremendous price Jesus paid so we could receive His blessing of shalom.

This blessing of peace with God and all that it entails is for you; for every follower of Jesus Christ Not one is overlooked, disqualified, or forgotten.

May you receive by faith the shalom of God your Father.

Sweet Surrender

Perhaps a common misconception about Christianity is that walking with God in
righteousness will greatly reduce trials and trouble. A misnomer is if you suffer it’s because of sin in your life.

Learning to Wait

The communique is going to follow a new line of thought. It will be a follow-up on Sunday’s message with application and more information.

WAIT!

What is your preference; waiting or instant gratification? Instant or a least fast is preferred by far. We have: ‘Insta-Lube’ for fast oil changes, microwave ovens, instant potatoes and coffee, fast food restaurants, minute rice, insta gram and the list goes on.

Armor

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:11-12
