Do you ever feel discouraged and not worthy of God’s love, attention and healing? Do you think at times you’ve sinned to often or your sin is too grevious and God really doesn’t want you? Or perhaps your life is so mundane, common or you have little or nothing to offer and God will pass you by for someone more worthy?
Well I have good news for you. Matthew 12:20 A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. (Isaiah 42:3) A reed is a type of tall grass and a brused reed is one that has trouble staying upright. A smoltering wick is one ready to die out. Matthew and Isaiah are referring to the poor and lowly people who have trusted in God and are struggling with life and faith. The fact that Jesus’ healing is within the immediate context shows that Jesus ministry is to set things right in the world through healing (Vs. 5) and else where, forgiveness, and casting out demons demonstrating his authority to move against darkness and heal our brokeness.
There isn’t anyone too low or needy (physically, spiriturally or emotionally) that Jesus will ignore or consider not worth his time, attention or restoratioon. His love and grace reaches down into the depts of this world’s mire and muck to pull us up and make us clean and whole through his blood.
No matter where you are emotionally or spiritually reach out to the hand that is already reaching out for yours.
