Last week we were introduced to ‘farming,’ that is, sowing the truth about God from the parable of the Sower where the seed fell on four types of soil, that is four conditions of the heart.
One of the questions Jesus answers with this parable is why so many people do not respond in faith to his words and works? This not only applies to the first century but also the twenty-first century.
Soil #1: Matthew 13:18-19 “Listen then to what the parable of the Sower means:When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. In the first century here were well worn paths between fields where seed inevitably fell. Because it was not covered nor did the seed fall into crevasses caused by plowing, it became the perfect snack for birds. They would come right behind the Sower and eat the seed.
When the word of God is shared and one hears it but does not understand it, it is not the word’s fault; it is the hearers because the same word is heard by others resulting in a harvest.
Jesus is pointing out there is a war going on for the heart and mind of men, women, and children. Satan has many ways of stealing the seed so it has no chance of germinating. How does he do this? Have you ever had a wondering mind unable or unwilling to focus and listen to God’s word? Or, an attitude that is determined not to listen right from the beginning because you assume it is foolishness? The hardness of heart by consistent rejection over the years; Peer pressure from other unbelievers. It could also include living in sin or past and present experience with false religions or the occult. You can add your own reasons to the list.
What can be done? Pray for an open mind, for spiritual eyes to see and for God to instill faith in one’s heart. Check the attitude and assumptions regarding biblical truth. We can pray for those we know who show signs of a pathway hearer.

The new draft of the Pandemic Treaty from the World Health Organization (WHO) should make any freedom-loving American shudder. As you know, this document addresses global health emergencies and would require signatories to share financial information, medical supplies, and other resources to assist in pandemic response.
While this may sound well-intentioned, the United States must not sign this treaty. The document will infringe on our sovereignty, and force us to make commitments we are unprepared to carry out. In addition, it could create a precedent of global governance, which would be dangerous to ourselves and future generations.
For these reasons and more, the United States should not sign the WHO Pandemic Treaty. We must protect our national authority, and ensure that any agreement we sign is in our country’s best interest.
